2018 platinum 10 speed or 2016 king ranch 6 speed

I would go with the 2018 even if they were both a King Ranch.
Gen 2 3.5 Ecoboost has many changes. Yes it may need a set of phasers but the latest part now seems to solve the issue long term, so you'll just need to plan on having them swapped once under warranty. The 2nd gen torque increase is 10%... but I think it's more about the design changes in the engine than just more power output. 2 sets of injectors (no valve caking and improved idle emissions), turbo changes, timing chain redesign, piston redesign.
1st gen 3.5: 365 hp (272 kW) at 5000 rpm, 420 lb⋅ft (569 N⋅m) at 2500 rpm
2nd gen 3.5: 375 hp (280 kW) at 5000 rpm, 470 lb⋅ft (637 N⋅m) at 2250-3500 rpm
I also like the 2018 front end refresh but that's a personal opinion.
Platinum also has nicer leather?
My 10 speed is perfect.
Only negative I see is no 36 gal (are you sure?). I would not let that stop you, and just swap it later. 700 mi range is amazing.
Is $6k going to move the needle for you? They are both nice trucks so don't over-extend yourself for the 2018.
Got any links to share that we can drool over?

Additcted to my truc
I think another thing to factor in is your usage and how long you're going to keep it. I'm going to be purchasing a much newer truck here in the next year or so, and for the longest time I thought I'd end up with the 2015-2017 5.0 SuperCrew. And then when I started thinking about how old a 2015 will be in 2024, and how old my 2004 and 2007 vehicles are right now and all the maintenance I have to do to stay on top of stuff and keep them impeccably maintained.
I think the 2018 refresh looks real sharp and the power is hard to deny with the refresh Gen 2. My vote would be for the newer truck personally if everything else checked out about it.

My 2016 Limited (3.5 and 6 speed) has 85k with no issues. My BIL’s XLT has the 3.5 and 10 speed and had lots of shifting problems (first year) that have mostly been worked out though he still has some odd downshifting now and then.

So turns out both were sold before I had a chance to really get to them. Not a big deal as I’m in no rush but when it comes to buying a f150 if it comes down to a nice truck with either the 3.5 or the 5.0 is there a better choice between them? Or as long as the truck is nice doesn’t matter what motor?

I know they are both sold but for the future...The 10 speed is awesome and the 2018 has the next gen engine with many improvements including port fuel injection which is in in addition to the direct injection...complete no brainer to get the 2018.

All of the motors are good. There are some issues depending on the motor and year.
I read as all around the 2.7 is most reliable, most fuel efficient and still has a lot of power.
