2018 supercrew 4x4 XLT 2.7 Thus far the truck has been pretty nice. My first Ford so I have little to compare it to other than the Nissan truck I traded in for the new truck. I'm averaging 20.6 MGP over 1500 miles, which is 5.6 more MPG than my Nissan. That alone made the truck worth the purchase.

So far only two issues:

1. Tailgate step rattles when stowed in tailgate. Noticed it after about a week of owning the tuck. Went back to the dealer and was told everything was ok. I checked all the other 2018s on the lot and EVERY single truck had a loose tailgate step. I called the salesman who referred me to the service manager who still (3 weeks later) hasn't called me back. I stopped the rattle with some electrical tap around the step "arms" by wrapping the tape around the rectangular tubing near the step it self. Seems like a cheap design for a $50K truck. I hate rattles. Especially on a brand new vehicle.

2. The 10 speed transmission randomly and intermittently clunks when shifting out of/into park, reverse, neutral, drive. When driving I don't notice hard shifting, maybe only once or twice when I've floored the truck. However, I do notice the clunking every so often when using the floor shifter. It's hard to replicate so I'm not sure what the issue may (or may not) be. My gut tells me that if it shifts fine when driving, then don't worry about it. However, when it does make the noise, it doesn't sound good. I supposes I'll have the dealer inspect at my first oil change.

Picked up our '18 Lariat back in September. Already have just over 4,800 miles. I've had very few "actual issues", but I've come up with some likes/dislikes...

Likes:
* Transmission- from my 4,800+ miles, this tranny is quite an improvement over my '11 6spd. Shifts are much smoother.
* Drive modes- Sport is just fun...no speeding tickets yet.
* SCREW- huge amount of space!
* B&O- real step up from anything I've had in the past, great sound.
* Getting 1-2mpg(avg) better than my '11 gen1 3.5eb.
* Tow mirrors are great. Can see everything!
* Love the circulation I get between the Pano and rear window combination.

Issues/Dislikes/Annoyances:
* Scratch from delivery just under driver's mirror. Going in for warranty.
* Hood large gap on driver's side, passenger side very narrow. Going in for warranty.
* Driver's mirror folds/opens slower than passenger - mildly annoying, but no big deal...manual says that's normal.
* Sync3- Not a huge fan of Apple's CarPlay - can't use truck's Nav in that mode so I keep it disabled.
* Sync3- If any other device is plugged into "hub", Sync3 won't recognize Pandora App (non-CarPlay mode). Have to unplug other device and iPhone, then just plug in iPhone, and start Pandora, then works.
* Doesn't remember drive mode - what if I find I like Eco better, should we be switched back to Normal every time we drive?
* AutoLamp appears too sensitive. Will drive under an overpass in the afternoon and have the headlights kick on. Need to ask dealer on this one.

Even though there seem to be a number of issues/annoyances - overall, this is a great truck. We're planning to get a camper soon, it's very comfortable for long hauls...we'll definitely be putting it to work.

Over.

Traded my wife's 2005 Screw Lariat 5.4 3V, 5.5 ft. on an optioned-out 2018 Screw Platinum 3.5 EcoBoost 5.5 ft. bed (145" WB).

From the moment my wife felt the massaging seats in the dealer's lot, she said it was her new truck.

Less that 500 miles so far, but zero issues. Fit and finish inside and out are excellent (panel seams, paint, leather, dash, etc.). The leap in technology is stunning. Gas mileage is significantly better than the 2005 -- 3-4 mpg (more if I'm driving )

We're also happy with the fit of the accessories we've added:

Ford mud flaps
Ford bed extender (much handier than the fixed aluminum-bar extender in the 2005)
Ford rear wheel well liners
BAK MX4 tonneau cover (black silicone-sealed the heck out of it; no leaks noted - so far)
Console Vault "safe" for the center console (the Ford accessory, without the extra $75 for the Ford logo on the lid)
Builtright Industries' driver-side rear seat release strap.

Fingers crossed for a good ownership experience. The current plan is to have this paid off by the time I retire (~7 years). This is our 5th F-150 since 1984, with few problems, all of which but one I could wrench on myself, so our expectations are pretty high. That said, with the turbos and the electronics (FORScan sez 39 modules!), we opted for the Ford extended warranty plan.

I got the extended warranty plan for the same reason.

I don't put a lot of miles on my vehicles and found a Ford dealer on line that sold these Ford warranty plans much closer to cost.

Got 5 years bumber to bumper with car rental upgrade for a bit over $600. Figure I would not keep past 5 years, I do good to keep 2 years but working on doing better with this one. Well worth that for peace of mind.

Liked to never found the link but here it is.

https://www.floodfordesp.com/buy_now.php

With the rental upgrade they have to give you a car even if for just that day.

Was less than half want my dealer wanted, said he would match it but I had already stated it with Flood Ford.

Bob, isn't it more accurate to say your ESP is really 2 years 12000 miles for $615?

@ MarkY

Not really! One will never have the same coverage he's ESP gives him for 5y/48K on the 3/36. It's a different coverage.

Now I'm still debating if I'm buying an ESP simply because from all the reading I did on brochures and covered item (even on Flood Ford's website), I have yet to find mentioned the moonroof. Assuming all the other gadgets will be covered for on the basic warranty.
