I'm more concerned with the 1/4 mile times as distance traveled in a time period is more important that what the speedo says and what some OBDII moduie calculates. Never seen a drag strip post 0-60mph times, just 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile times.

You'd be surprised how much correlation there is between 0-60 times, and 1/8 and 1/4 times, if you've never looked into it before. Vehicles pulling 1.9 second sixty foots are in a great position to score a solid 1/8 time (within the context of a stock or near stock full size truck)

Besides that, for street driving, acceleration rates below 60 mph are far more relevant to sane and non-reckless drivers than acceleration rates at 80-100+ MPH as you find at the end of the 1/4 with vehicles like this.

Maybe you run WOT at 100+ MPH on the street on a regular basis, but I don't. Now, in between 0 and 60...yeah, that happens.

So, to be clear, I'm talking about street use, and not running 100+ on the street.

If you want to buy a truck based on dragstrip use, that's a different story...but a tuned EcoBoost is still your best bet unless you're going to pony up for a supercharger on the 5.0

I’ve had both. A 2016 3.5 & now a 2020 5.0 (also had a 6.2 GMC Sierra in between those 2).

The 3.5 had some serious nuts. Especially down low and was fun to pass people on the highway. But I’m telling you. This 5.0 hauls butt and is a joy to drive. It’d butter smooth and has plenty of power across the band. I would have been fine going back to the 3.5, but The 5.0 was speced how I wanted.

the only caveat I have is that if you’re towing at altitude. Go 3.5. Otherwise. The 5.0 will be just fine.

and I’ll echo what others said. Get the 36 gallon tank. Why it’s not standard is beyond me. My GMC had the 24 gallon and I could barely get 300 miles. So annoying.
