2018 F150 XLT Extra Key Programming
Technical question on fob programming.
i have a 2018 XLT with the flip key (non smart key), I picked up an extra flip key and tried to program it using the process found on the Interwebs to no avail.
So I got to thinking, is it possible that the custom tune I have could prevent the programming process to happen? The reason I ask is because I took the truck to my Ford Tech buddy and when he plugged in his PDS it said it could not detect the PCM.
I know I can reflash my computer back to stock, but I thought I’d ask here first.

Despite the manual ...Unfortunately Ford disabled owner key programming in the 2018. My employer at the time did Duracell Key programming and even that was a no go. I had to give up and pay the dealer to add my extra key.
According to my ford tech buddy, it is not disabled
The manual instructions absolutely do not work. I'd love to know how to owner program it then ... '17 and older I agree ... for 2018 I am skeptical of what your buddy said. The Ford Tech can add keys with his IDS tool ... but owner doing it in his drive way is the issue.
I programmed many F-150's in my job and 2018 became an issue that even our supplier (after market) could not support.
