Sounds like your butt dyno needs to be recalibrated.

Worst case scenario is probably a heavy, wet spring or fall storm. 12-18" of high density snow means pushing a lot of weight, possibly well above freezing. Combine that with never breaking twenty miles an hour for hours at a time, and I think you'll get the shutters open pretty quick.
