seems everyday I see a 5.0 issue here. what did they change about these engines? is the stop start feature causing this? did they make any changes to the engine to keep oil in the top of the engine for start stop? I always thought the 5.0 was the most reliable of the engine choices, apparently not.

The checkerboard and holes might be the same aspect wise I guess, but Ford has different dipstick part numbers for 2015-2017 and 2018. It appears the 18’s is shorter, which makes sense being that it has a higher oil level.

That was my point. The FULL oil level on the dipstick will be the same for '15, and '18 5.0s

I’m going to go ahead and say that this is just a general not-to-scale picture of how to read a dipstick. Which hasn’t changed much in 50 years.

Looks like the dipstick is different on the 4.6L, and 5.4L, which aren't 50 years old:

No, it looks like the descriptive illustrations are different.

Are the fill capacities the same on the '15 and '18 5.0s? If not, then I doubt the graduations on the two dip sticks are showing the same range between low and full.

ETA-Even assuming the dipsticks are IDENTICAL...there is one huge difference between the '18 5.0, which this thread pertains to, and the '15, one which is very possibly the culprit in the excessive oil consumption. the plasma cylinder liners. So I'm not sure what you are trying to prove here.
