2018 F150 5.0L - Excessive Oil Consumption ***TSB-2058***
#251
I changed my oil at 1000 miles and now have 6500. I checked the level tonight and looks like i am just under the lower hole on the dipstick. I am going to change the oil in the morning and keep an eye on it.... For the people who got the engine replaced I see they take off the cab? How do you feel the truck was put back together? Any new noises, rattles, etc? How does the engine bay look? Does it look like it came off the factory floor or some guy did it in their driveway?

does the engine bay look like brand new, no... they reused the intake manifold, after a closer inspection i could see new value covers and the wiring harness looked different.
while it's too early to gauge if the oil use problem is gone, the other issues i was having with the engine are still there......

I asked the dealer, they said the cab was completely removed for easy access.

Appears I'm using oil too, only in 464 miles!!! I did fill mine to the top line, I checked today, in the garage before I left for work. I have no idea that this small amount of loss on the dipstick equates to, but yep, using oil.
Did I understand that you need to have 10,000 miles on the truck before starting the TSB. I didn't see anything that about that in the TSB, or is that just something a dealer told someone on here?

I realize there have been many posts concerning owners of 2018 F150s w/5.0L experiencing oil consumption. However, based on the total qty of those engines built the percentage of failures is still very small. Keep in mind the first rule of trouble shooting: "Is there a problem?" Many of those engines produced will never experience this issue.
...it’s a bit of a trend for Ford.
