Default 2018 electrical issue?

Just purchased a 2018 xlt the other day and have been really liking it. Only one issue is keeping me from loving it.

Whenever I open the door to get in the entire dash/instrument panel lights up AND the radio turns on. I can turn the radio on/off at any time without key in ignition (and even if it has just been sitting all night).

Is this normal? Any ideas what could be causing it?

When I open the door the instrument panel lights up, radio shows the ford logo, and all interior/exterior lights come on.

I can also get in and turn the radio on at any time, without the key. There is a timeout (maybe 30 min, can't recall).
However, my radio does not turn on and play audio without pushing power when I open the door.

When you say the radio turns on when you open the door, do you mean the display comes on with a Ford logo, or it actually turns all the way on and starts playing music?

After messing around with it more it seems like you are correct. The radio just turns on with Ford logo but no audio until I press power button.

The only other thing that seems odd is that if I power on radio (with truck off) the radio doesn’t turn off when I open the door. Is there a delay there? Or could that be something else? I haven’t had time yet to watch it for more than a minute so not sure if it would turn off after 2-3 minutes

This is also expected. If you manually turn on the radio it will stay on when the door is opened. If you forget to turn it off it will time out and turn off. The timeout is adjustable with Forscan. Don't worry, it won't drain the battery in this short amount of time.

If the truck is running and you turn the engine off the radio will stay on. In this cases once you open the door the radio will turn off.

All working as expected, enjoy the new features!

Glad to hear it! Thank you for your quick and precise responses. It just seemed so different after my last vehicle. Can’t wait to get some more time/miles with it!
