2018 - cracked horn cover

Little bump.
Mine was replaced today. Took a couple days to get the part in because I've got a KR, but otherwise completely hassle free. In and out in 2 hours, including a PCM update.
Parts & labor was fully covered under the 5yr/60k mi safety restraint warranty (though I've got ESP as well should it have been necessary).
Spoke to the tech and he said it appeared the replacement had the same part number, so he doubts they made any reinforcements to it. Let's see if this one lasts...
For what it's worth; mine started as a small line, gradually opening up over time until it was large enough I could easily poke a nail in the gap. Right before I dropped it off I was able to look through the gap and see the airbag. So.. yeah, it just keeps getting worse (granted, I didn't stop palm-honking either )

For example, with the 2014 I was able to give short beeps; quick tap on the horn would do the trick. Not so with 2015+.
Step in a 2009-2014 some day and compare; you'll notice how much stiffer the horn is.

I agree that the horn requires you to press pretty hard on the steering wheel. However, you should press on the outer edges of the hub to sound the horn because that's where the contacts are. Just about all modern cars are designed that way.

You all know you can press on top of that airbag/horn pack, right? You don’t have to press the fragile center. Like, I’m shocked that people smash the Ford logo for the horn when you can do it with 10 times the force just 2 inches higher and never have it crack. Put 167k miles on a 2015 and honked all the time because I’m crazy. No cracks.

Yes, I know where the contacts are.
Yes, I know that's where the airbag seam is.
Yes, I know not to hulksmash the horn.
Great for you that it didn't affect you. My 2014 Raptor didn't have any issue with it either. But 6 months into ownership of my 2019 and it happened. So it got fixed. Simple as.
Just because that's where the crack appears (and where the seam is), doesn't mean that's where I use my horn.

Dealer just sent a photo into Ford for approval. In all honesty when you are doing a panic stop cause a jackass pulls into your lane the instinct is to hit the horn as fast as you can.
