I know in my 13 Lariat both back and bottom cooled.
is the 18 the same or I heard someone say the 18s use a different method ???

18/19 just has a fan that blows air into the seat.

Now the heat must have an element correct ?

there is no filter and the heat is just a little heating element that a fan circulates air. Its called a TED(Thermo-electric Device)

FYI - but this is not accurate for the 2018.

1. Ventilated mode uses a common blower with no TEC device. The design draws air through the seat and exhausts below it.
2. Heat modes uses a heating element, similar to most conventional heated seats. Ford refers to it as a "Seat Cushion Heater Mat".
