Default 2018 auto start/stop question

I coulda swore I used to have to press the button to disable the start/stop each time I got in the truck, but I disabled it yesterday morning and it has stayed disabled. Is that supposed to happen? I’ve seen several threads on workarounds for permanently disabling it, but when I turn my truck on, it’s already disabled. Is this a new feature for 2018 over an older version?

Putting it in Tow or Sport mode? Those automatically disable the *** function.

Just went out and tested it. Been driving in M and apparently that disables it too. Duh. My apologies for asking the obvious

That must be a 18 feature. On my 15 the Start/Stop is not disabled in Sport mode. Don't know about tow.

I think this happened to me too. The other morning my wife and I got in to go somewhere, I let her drive the new truck The productivity screen was in setup mode because I've been fiddling with everything and have no idea what she may have "clicked" on. Anyway, the engine never shut off on the 10-mile stop and go trip. At first I thought maybe it wasn't warmed up yet, but certainly after the trip down the highway on the way home, the engine was at operating temperature. After we got home and unloaded, I got back in to go to work and the A-S/S worked normally on both legs of the commute. Funny thing is, she doesn't like the A-S/S and I do. Does the truck just know because she pressed the Driver 2 preset button? Hmmm?

Pages 175-176 of the 2018 Owner's Manual detail the Auto Start/Stop functions. There are many variables.
