Default 2018 Auto Start/Stop impressions.

Just picked up my 18 302A FX4 and love it. Not feeling the Auto start/stop feature. It seems pretty dumb to me actually. I can see if you are a big city driver and routinely sit still at stoplights for over a minute at a time, biut for small town and rural driving its silly! Lol. I didn't know what was going on at first, and thought it was stalling!! Haha. What are your impressions?

Exclamation

Push the button and turn it off if you aren't "feeling it". Problem solved.

I have been driving an 18 for the last 2 weeks as a loaner while my 17 is in the shop. I haven't decided if I like it or not.

Actually, you should tear your IP apart, and rewire a bunch of switches with jumpers & paper clips & stuff, cuz that's better than pushing a button.

OP, you should disregard the smart aleck replies. Some on here think "saving the planet" justifies any and all inconveniences and will definitely yell down anyone who disagrees. There are two semi-permanent ways to disable the A.S.S. You can jumper two wires on the back of the switch on the dash, or you can use ForScan to disable it. I used the ForScan method. I say semi-permanent because either method will disable A.S.S. until you manually reverse what you did to disable it. It will not auto-reverse itself.

Default Start/Stop work around

2018 SC Sport 5.0;
I’ve inserted (at separate times) both the 7 pin and 4 pin wire testers trick (the truck will think you have a tow vehicle hooked up) as has been much talked about. Both efforts “disabled” the SS feature for anywhere from 1-5 minutes and then this work around stopped working and the truck started acting like nothing was inserted and I reverted back to having to (oh-no) push the disable button every time I started the engine.
Anyway, unless I’m missing something here, the “insert the wire tester” trick doesn’t work for my truck. I’ll do the “install the U shaped jumper wire behind the button” trick when I get time and be done with it, unless someone has a better Idea.
