I'm confused, is this thread about the 5.0 or the 10R80?

A little bit of both.

Just dropped the truck off yesterday at the shop for visit 2. Encouraging results, the service advisor actually typed great notes into the system and said he would give my list to the tech directly so the tech could have my notes too.

Thought it it was interesting he also mentioned where I work. But I’ve never told him, only the service manager knows where I work, guess they’ve had some back office talk about me. Lol!

Back in the Exploder for now. Sweet little ride, no complaints yet. I’ll keep updating as I hear more. I added the engine knock at idle, the chirp, and the damn dog whistle to my list of things I want fixed. Hopefully we get some results this time instead of not doing anything and immediately labeling all my concerns as “normal characteristic.”

MIne had a lot of the problems you are mentioning. I now have 15k miles and the startup clunk has gone away and the delayed shift when transmission is cold has also gone away. the off throttle rattle is still there but its much less noticeable and doesn't last as long as it used to. The transmission is actually really smooth now and i hardly even notice its shifting unless its really cold. The only thing i had done was the seat belt recall. Give it some time and drive it. I would wait till i brought it in for its first service to get the dealer to check those complaints. Things need time to break and wear in.

My 2018 has both of those sounds. The Service Manager said his 2018 Platinum 5.0 has it and a random loaner 2018 5.0 had the same noise. Mine gets louder the longer driven. It's audible over the radio after a couple hours driving.

1300-1800 rpm has the squeal no matter what gear up/down shift. It does not happen in neutral or park.

But since his and others on the lot make the noise he said it is normal and they wont do anything further to fix it. Essentially drive it till it breaks.

Update.

Dealership can't replicate the transmission slipping/getting stuck in second gear. I told them I don't fault them, I can't even "make" it happen at will. It's totally random. They said they'd keep trying. Funny, they said that now they "can't replicate the woosh noise when it shifts," when they replicated it fine on its first visit with the concern, because they wrote it off to SSM4475 on my paperwork.

Didn't really give more of an update, aside from what I posed on the knock/tap thread. Never bothered having them look at the dash warp, as cosmetic problems don't really bother me all that much. Hell I'm ugly and my wife still loves me! lol

The battle continues for a BRAND NEW quiet vehicle to finally be had. Stay strong friends!
