2018 5.0L - Engine Rattle Noise On Deceleration And/Or Acceleration ***TSB 18-2354***

This was all hashed out on this exact same forum many months ago. It was determined that an online form did not waste as many resources as a phone call. Initially, I assumed, just as you are, that the form would use the same resources until people with more knowledge of the subject than you and I set the record straight.. Personally, I think they are both a waste of everyone's time. You are barking up the wrong tree. I don't blame people for wanting it fixed and I admire your determination to join a forum just to "rally the troops", but you are going about it all wrong and wasting peoples time. This is not the goal or mission of the NHTSA.

I disagree, respectfully. Government oversight is to look out for the best interests of the people. We pay for this. Clearly we are in a disadvantage on our own. Creating enough reasonable doubt regarding safety is enough for the NHTSA to look into it. Most likely, nothing will come from it. But in large numbers, even an inquiry from them on our behalf would help this issue get resolved quicker. Do it online, or calling. However you want to do it. As long as you file a formal complaint.

It involves a custom tune and will jeopardize your powertrain warranty. In my opinion, as annoying as the noise may be, it is not detrimental to the engine and certainly not worth sacrificing your warranty to minimize or eliminate. If you are still interested in pursuing this, I can provide references for several reputable tuners who could work with you. The cost would be roughly $500-$600.

Its pretty clear that opinions vary...thats okay but lets not derail this thread and maybe keep the drama to a minimum?
This subject is important to me and I suspect others...I would like to see more members here continue to report on their findings, their experiences with warranty and dealerships as well as any thoughtful insights that may contribute to a possible solution.
Thanks!

If the latter, was your tuner aware of the rattle and what they needed to do to eliminate it beforehand?

That's because a limited number had that manufacturing issue. In that case it does make sense financially. Every 5.0 has the potential to rattle. Apples to oranges. Ford bean counters are the only thing saving their azz right now.
