Default 2018 5.0 Good Experiences??

Hi guys- I just sold my 2014 5.0 and gearing up to buy my second F-150. I’ve owned four 5.0’s all different generations and have loved them and always considered them great motors. I was planning to get a 2018 sport with 5.0 and 10sp but decided to do some research anyways and came across all the info on knocking and oil consumption etc which I find very disturbing. I’ve honestly never even considered an ecoboost but now am.

My question: I know a TSB is out.... but how widespread are these 5.0 issues?? Are most of these 2018 motors turds or is this issue overblown on focused forums by (rightfully) angry owners? Has anyone had a POSITIVE experience with their 2018 5.0 10spd? Am I insane to consider one at this point?

thanks

I love mine. Power is smooth and the truck is amazing. It has some minor noises if your window is down and the 10 speed can be clunky in traffic but i love it and would buy it again without hesitation

I like mine also. It took about 7k miles for the 10 sp to settle down to where it mostly shifts very good. Occasionally clunky in lower gears especially at beginning of a drive cycle. My V8 is pretty quiet. Its used a little oil in almost 12k miles. I'm evaluating it now following the TSB myself for any problems, so far after 2k miles, it seems to be ok.

My 5.0 runs great, uses about 1 full quart between 5k changes but is slowing at 30K miles. Trans is a little clunky especially when cold. Overall I love mine and would do again, not a fan of turbo engines.

Love mine. Hasn't used any oil that I can tell on the dipstick in 10K. Changed oil every 5000 mi. Doesn't have the decel rattle that I can hear with the windows down or parked with the hood up. It's real quiet at idle to the point that I have opened the door to get out several times with the engine running because I couldn't hear it. The 10 speed could use some refinement with the shift points but I would still rate it as good smooth trans. I think there are alot of F150 5.0 owners out there like me but they don't post on web sites just to say they're happy and don't have any problems.

Lovin’ mine. She used up 1/4 of a quart of oil by the first oil change, which I expected for the break in period. Hasn’t eatin’ up any since. Been keeping my eye on the oil level weekly cause of the tsb, and the issues some are having. Does have the knock at idle, and it doesn’t bother me that much. My old 5.4 had it, so I’ve grown to it lol. The 10 speed has been great thus far, and performs well in the different modes.
Its been a good all around truck so far.

Add me to the list of happy owners. Have test driven them all. Wouldn't want to drive anything else..!
No issues whatsoever.
