Just wanted to give a quick update, things are going well. It has 830 miles now, which includes an additional 500 i put on it since it left the shop. They found cylinder 1 had a bad coil pack, so they replaced that and the spark plug. They did flash the pcm with TSB 17-2262. It drives and shifts perfect, i'll keep my fingers crossed! Thanks for all the feedback!

I have 2018 F150 V8 STX 4x4 and today my truck did exactly the same thing as OP. Backed out of driveway and put in drive, went from 1st to 7th. I had to slip the trans around the block to get back home. Shut off and put in park tried it again, same thing happened. So Ford came to tow to the dealership.
2weeks ago I had it at Ford for the TSB 17-2262 shuttering issues and the PCM was updated at that time. SO I am not sure the TSB 17-2262 fixes this issue. The code I checked was P0721 Over Speed Sensor .
I will keep ya'll updated with what I find out today. Truck has 1900mi

Had this happen in one of my company trucks today, 18 crew cab stx 5.0. Leaving a job site and went from 1st to 7th. Relieved that this is a known issue, the service manager said he hasn't seen anything like that yet which had me scared at first. Truck just rolles 500 miles as well.

From what i have read from other sites and here there were a bad batch of solenoids. In one case Ford had to change the transmission. My truck is still at the dealer and they currently do not know what caused the issue. I hope its something simple but my feeling is that its something serious.

My truck only got stuck in 7th gear the one day. Ford could never replicate the problem, and by the end of the week they flashed the PCM with 2262. So far it has 1200 miles on it and it runs perfect (problem happened with 300 miles on it). If it is a flaky solenoid, i hope it fails before the powertrain warranty is up.

Update on ours, dealer said that it "fixed itself" yesterday, then did the same thing today. Have it at another dealer now and this is apparently the 4th time it's happened. 2 miles, 134 miles, then the last two occurrences both under 500 miles.
