Default 2018 3.5 ecoboost stalling when taking off from stop light

Today I was sitting at a stop light. When the light turned green the engine stalled out. It didn't die but eventually accelerated and took off. I had just filled it up with 91 octane gas from conoco. The truck has a little over 5000 miles. It hasn't done it yet until now. I live in west texas and it is a very dry day so I doubt it is the moisture CAC issue. Anybody else have any experience with this?

I'm assuming you know your truck has Auto Start/Stop? Did it start back up as soon as you lifted off the brake? Or was it different than that?

The auto start stop was turned off. This was different like the engine was about to die then it accelerated.

LOL, I suspect you went to the floor with it?

My experience with that motor in my 2014 is that it is slow as hell off the line. It's that drive-by-wire crap, I think. I really hate the feel and wish I had the 5.0 V8 instead. The 3.5 will eventually get its *** in gear and move, but it definitely hesitates if you gun it from a dead stop. Definitely not going to win any races with this thing.

No it was actually a slow smooth take off. I haven't felt it do that before. It was kind of scary. It was definitely like there was something wrong with it.

Gotcha, the reason I said that, for some reason, the 3.5 will just sit there for a second if you gas it to the floor from a dead dig. The trick is to roll into the throttle, or apply brake, bring it up to 1500-2000 rpm and dump the brake and go to the floor. The thing will take off like a scalded dog, causes excessive tire wear.
I've heard it's because of torque management, I don't know if I believe that or not.
On your problem, I think I'd just keep it in mind, and if it did it again, maybe a trip to the dealer, that could be hazardous in some situations. Electronics do stupid things at times.

the moisture CAC issue hasn't appeared on 2017+ gen 2's.

I didn't believe the moisture issue was the problem. I just wanted to mention where I lived so that nobody jumped to that conclusion. I had read that issue had been resolved also. It was odd because it has performed flawlessly so far.

Try it in sport mode. Shouldn't happen there . Are you sure on the start/stop? I always deactivated it before switching to using sport mode all the time, but one time I obviously forgot and thought something was wrong with the truck until I checked and the ***-off light wasn't on. Yep, forgot to click the button, but since I do it every time, it's just muscle memory now, and can't remember if I did it or not. At any rate, dumping the gas pedal should produce smooth acceleration, since the computer doesn't actually open the throttle body valve immediately, but gradually instead, to avoid stalling, precisely. But gradually happens quickly. I still prefer to apply throttle gradually myself (WOT within 1 second), and never an issue. Check for DTCs, but if you find none, and can't duplicate your issue at will, don't bother with a dealer until you do.
