I believe this may just be an extension of the 2017 transmission TSB. Seems like someone at Ford dropped the ball on including the earlier 18's. For those with 18's having issues, this was a massive improvement for the 17. The update for the 17 actually updates the TCM to a 2018 TCM part number.

Thanks for sharing. I want to watch this thread and see what people say after the TSB is performed. My 4-3 downshift and 3-4 upshift can be a bit harsh but its not something I want to bring up with the dealer yet.

Default Tsb 18-2274

Had scheduled works oil change on 9/10 for 18 f150 extended cab 2.7 and 10 speed trans. and talked with service advisor about erradic shifting, he found this and they performed. To early to tell what will be corrected as the truck has to learn adaptive transmission shift strategy again, but truck seems much more aggressive in power and shifting... Hoping this cleans up transmission shifting and noises on startup.

Check your driver's side door jam for a sticker that contains the date.

It made a big difference on my 2018 5.0... clears up the 3-5 clunky shift, and the other shifts seem softer/smoother now.

Hopefully this will end the 60 threads on the same topic!
also hope they can avoid the tsb. Had 2 Jeep's were perfectly fine(for a Fiat) and they mandated the trans updates even though I told them not to touch it.. one was lemoned because the update fried it, other I sold quick! My Ford is fine and if they update it and screw it up, there gonna give me a new truck!

TSB done today. I know it is supposed to still be learning but it definitely seems better.

Mine was built in March and the shifts are not as smooth as they were in my '16. Although, it shifts much better now with 2500 miles compared to when it was new.
