Default 2017 XLT Plastic Bumper Inserts

I have a 2017 XLT that I'm setting up to flat tow. I need to remove one of the plastic inserts on either side of the front license plate to install the light plug and breakaway switch. How do you get those out?

I replaced mine because someone bumped the front of my truck. It's all one-peice across the front, and is really difficult to remove. The clips are essentially one-time use, unless you are really careful. I had to get them started from the back side of the bumper.

Get a plastic trim removal tool, wedge it in at one end until you can grab insert, and pull it, they come right off. Yes held on with clips. Taken mine off likely 3 times, and stuck it back on. No muss, no fuss. 2 minute job.
Do you have a 5.0, or Ego. Both come off the same way, the 5.0 has a solid center piece where the Ego is open. If a 5.0, just drill a hole in between the slats. If Ego, get one of those "L" shaped aftermarket plug brackets, and figure out how to mount it, shouldn't be hard, and you won't have to ruin the breadbox on the insert.

Thanks, I I'll just drill a hole through it for the install.
