2017 XL - Any Known Cons before Buying
Hey guys, looking at purchasing a 2017 F150 XL. It has the 2.7 Eco Boost, Crew Cab with the front center console and large screen, STX package and 4x4. From what i've read, this might be perfect for me - the 2.7 is supposed to be a great motor, it does everything I need it to but is still pretty nice, and is a 4x4.
I wanted to post here and see if there were any downfalls to the truck before purchasing? Thanks for the help.

A lot of the glitches you read about on here are on the higher end trucks, (cooled seat issues, creased leather, knocking or leaking sunroofs, etc) so you should be pretty safe with an XL. I'm not sure if they completely fixed the freezing doors and locks on the 2017 though. This is a big complaint for those living in colder climates.
Just check all the gaps and paint to make sure it is satisfactory to you. It won't be perfect, but should be adequate at least. Also, make sure it doesn't vibrate at highway speeds or have excessive wind noise.
The 2.7 seems to be a good engine so far. I like it. It is very powerful yet pulls down excellent fuel mileage if driven conservatively. Long term reliability is still unknown but there are reports of people crossing the 100,000 mile range recently with no significant issues.

No real cons unless you desire something from the other trims. I only wanted the larger screen with SYNC 3 but luckily that can be added later, so I am good now.

I have had my 2017 XL 4x4 crew with the 2.7L for 2 months now and just hit 900 mile yesterday. I got the XL for the sames reasons you stated. I had a 2014 STX subercab that I upgraded from and it was truly an upgrade. I love the center console, especially the extra storage room with the shifter being on the tree. The sync 3 is very nice and I love the apple carplay. I am in Delaware and while it hasn't been extremely cold here this year, I have not had any issues with door locks freezing. Honestly, I have not had a single issue and love the truck. The 2.7L has as much get up and go as my previous 5.0 and gets better gas mileage. I can not give realistic MPG numbers because I live 2.5 miles from work with 4 stop signs ,2 stop lights and a 30 MPH speed limit. I don't miss any of the options that come with the XLT and enjoy the comfort the STX sport package includes with the price tag the XLT or higher would pull.

My '16 XL is a peach.
Only concern is the occasional frozen door lock/latch. Which they tell me Ford is working on a fix.
