OK so I have a 2017 F150 4X4 has the 8" screen with Navigation, I want to be able to watch Netflix and all the goodies off my phone. What kind of dongle do I need to able to watch this. Every time I search Travel Buddy or Carplay I mostly get Apple music conversion, I need for Android. Cyber Monday there has to be a decent unit to be able to work. I can use the Android Auto thro my phone, but I don't have that as part as my Sync 3 options?? Hope I'm not confusing everyone? thanks in advance Jim P.

 

You should be able to use Android Auto on your Sync screen when your phone is connected by USB cord to one of the USB outlets in the little storage cubby in the front of the center console.

 

My truck doesn't have the Android Auto option on my screen, I do have full Navigation. I can use Android auto if I plug my phone into the USB to connect thru my phone. With-out the Android Auto built into my Sync 3 how can I watch Netflix type of things thru my phone on my Truck screen?

 

You can't, with the OEM hardware and operating system. It's illegal most places for a screen to play videos in view of the driver while the vehicle is moving, so most (if not all) systems don't allow that function.

 

There are ways to jaibreak Sync, but you'd have to research it.

 

Fmods.net is the place to look. However Im not sure full screen share will work. BUT you can put mkv videos on a usb and play them that way
