The grill popped off because of the accident and was on the road.

The flat bed driver through most of the solidified chunks in the bed after he pulled it forward.

I didn't get around to it. It had only had the truck 2 months. I have been lurking around since before I bought the truck though.

That must have been something to watch.

At least they're taking care of you, GL with new truck!
I figure that would be the case. But at least I thought they may have notified Ford, NHTSA, NTSB, etc.

The fuel lines run down that of the truck too. Could have started from a broken fuel line, but the ignition source would be interesting to know. Is there part of the exhaust there that was possibly heat soaked enough to ignite fuel?

Also, an impact like that really shouldn't sever a fuel line but who knows....

Huge bummer. I hate going to car-b-ques when nice vehicles are getting toasted.

The impact could have severed a wire making it ground out & possibly starting an electrical fire. But that's aluminum for you, it's melting point is roughly 1,200*F lower than steel. So these trucks will totally melt to the ground in minutes.

Glad you are ok! Look on the bright side, I don't think you will worry about a salvage title vehicle...

There wouldn't be a "puddle" of aluminum...... There would be aluminum "dust". If it gets hot enough to melt aluminum in air, it oxidizes and turns into "volcanic ash"!

glad you are ok. my guess is fuel line broke on impact and sprayed the turbo. hence why we always shut down the motor instantly on impact.

What makes you think that is an option? It will go to the insurance company.
