2017 flip keys
I have the original 2 flip keys for my truck. I wanted to get a couple as spares just in case. I got them in and had a locksmith cut them. I went through the program procedure and it seems to have programmed them. The locks locked and unlocked after the procedure and the keys start the truck, but none of the buttons on the fob work. If i open the door inserting the key I have to start it with key to prevent the alarm going off. Is there another procedure for the buttons on the fob? Or am I screwed by paying the locksmith to cut them and these fobs will not work? He cut them for $50 but wanted 220 to program them. Thought I could do it myself.
The locksmith probably just programmed the key and not the remote.

On the flip remotes, the transponder and remote should program at the same time.
If the button configurations are not the same for both the new and old remotes, it will probably not work as the FCC ID is different for the R/S and non R/S versions. If they're the same style and you were able to verify they have a good battery, either it's a bad remote or the wrong remote otherwise as there are multiple remotes that look the same but are different internally.
