2017 F150 Limited or 2019 Ram Limited
#41
I spent a good 2-hours in the new ‘19 Ram the day before I purchased a F-150 a few weeks ago (auto show). FCA really did knock it out of the park, they fixed nearly every short coming from the previous generation. (Tech options, payload/tow ratings, flat floor, mpg). I have also been reading how superb that new progressive suspension put in the thing. And they probably now have the nicest interior of any American vehicle, outside of the higher trims on new Navigator. Just this morning Ram introduced the prices, was shocked to see MSRP’s only had a slight increase (some trims actually decreased). The one big problem, there will be no programs/discounts/incentives for as much as a year out. So even though the ‘18 XLT was $1-2k more than a similary equipped, newly designed ‘19 Big Horn, after rebates I saved around $8k going with The F-150. If price is no object, personally, I would go with the ‘19 Ram, it however was an object for me. I got a great deal on my ‘18, and love it, no regrets, Can’t wait for Ford to up the ante again in a few years, so should be very interesting in a few years when it’s time to upgrade. All that being said, I lease, will probably never own again (these modern trucks just have too much tech for outside of Warranty costs). So I get a new truck every few years. If I was to purchase, no question, Ford. They are going to be more reliable over the long haul, and living in the salt belt, won’t rust.

Ok ill toss in my .02
First off I see NO problem with the OP's post...people need to lighten up, the Ford Church is closed
Now as for the Ram...I ran Dodges for a long time hauling bass boats all over the country fishing tournaments...Then I tried an F150...wth man...hands down I would never buy another truck ...the Ram's used more fuel, went thru more brakes, rotors etc...worse resale and trade value...and they always lacked power...my last one the factory offered a buy back because it was in the shop more than my driveway..
I have a good friend that owns a tranny and general repair shop...he said the trannys on the Ford are much better than the GM or Dodge..I was a tier 1 supplier for Chrysler so I always got the best pricing and still can but NO more Dodges for this guy,,,
I hate the GM engine and trannys,,,so I don't currently have a Ford truck but I will soon again...so for me it will be a Ford truck or NO truck ! Good luck and don't let the looks of the "fluff" sway you

Ford's electronics and electrical sucks.
Dodge interiors are cheap and transmissions suck.
GM's engines suck.

Never seen any Ford electrical issues and I've owned quite a few just saying

I feel the need to speak about the engines in Dodge trucks. Someone stated all the problems with them. I would say they have no more problems with the hemi engines or the newer Pentstar V6 than any other company. The hemi is a proven design and is pretty reliable and makes good power. I'm sure like all engines, there have been a problem one now and then but so has Ford. One thing that is true its hard to tune a late model hemi. Starting in 2011 they put locks on the computer in them. The only way around it is to buy an unlocked computer, and then get a tuner.

You know where you are headed, just go there! Get that bad boy Ram ordered up now and beat the rush. Ram dealerships have great coffee and donuts in the service area. You will get your fair share and more of that great coffee. You may want to warn your mail carrier that you will be recieving a lot of mail in the future (recall letters). Stop acting like you have this big decision to make. Like I said, you know right now where you are headed, just go!
FWIW the 19 Ram is a beauty of a truck but like all new gens there will be issues. I would also suspect dodge is going to be like ford for the first year and offer little to no rebates so expect to pay top dollar for the first round of trucks

I love my 2016 Limited! (similar to the 2017 limited, minus 10 speed, auto start stop and trailer BLIS)

Three things.
1.) First and Foremost, coming from someone who did it and regret it to this day, Never, Ever, Ever buy a first run new model year vehicle. Did that with a 2013 Fusion Hybrid and nothing but issues!!!! Wait at least a year to find out what issues it has and what gets resolved. The 2019 Ram is no different in that regards as the Fusion was a complete redesign, just like the new Ram is.
2.) A 2017 has a proven track record, has a new EB and 10 speed that so far has proven reliable, so a buyer should have far fewer issues with it.
3.) Safety!!! The safest truck in any crash!
Not going to say anything about FCA since the OP has had them for 10 years and if he had any issues with FCA, he sure wouldn't go back.
I myself am interested in the new Ram design, and may actually switch to it in a few years when it is time to replace my 16 (provided it desn't get totaled like my 14 did sooner). Only true reason I replaced the totaled 14 which was trouble free for its 63K mile lifetime with another F150 was for the Safety factor. The 14 held up well in a 47 MPH offset crash and was 4 star rated, the 16 is 5 star rated in that same crash. I considered Ram, but didn't care for the silly shift ****.
Good luck in your decision.
