Default 2017 f150

Has no one posted this yet? Or am I too lazy to search?

2017 F150:

- Confirmed 2nd gen 3.5 ecoboost with 365hp/450lbft
- port and direct injected
- new turbos, electronic waste gate
- 10 speed transmission w/ 6 underdrive, a 1:1 gear and 3 overdrive

Now I'll be forced to wait for a 2017 to get my F150, that drive train upgrade is a nice bump up. Though I'm not terribly fond of being a beta tester for the 10 speed, I think I'll roll the dice and do it.

The 10 speed auto is also used in GM vehicles so you won't be driving the only brand using the same tranny.

Wonder if the 10-speed could be retrofitted into the 15/16 and how hard it would be. If they work out pick one up from a junk yard in a few years, grab the 17 comp while I'm at it.

I know, that's the scariest part, that's what worries me the most is the collaboration on the new 10 speed with GM. GM has got to be the worst for new transmissions.

Their 8 speed intro in the trucks was a disaster and it still has a ways to go before it's perfected. Clunky shifts, strange shift patterns, classic GM hesitation and lag time.

This will be my first Ford, after making GM buy back my 2014 Sierra with the classic unfixable vibration. So I really can't deal with any more problems... which means I should think of the safe bet with a 2016 and the 6 speed, but I want all the latest goodies if I'm going to pay this much for a truck.

The new 3.5L Ecoboost and 10 speed trans both sounds good. The motor seems like it is pretty much all new except the displacement. It has both direct injection and port injection to keep to valves clean. The extra gears in the trans will likely help with acceleration and fuel economy.

With all that said, I am not interested in being the guinea pig. My time is valuable so hanging out in the dealership lounge isn't in my plans. I will let everyone else work out the issues and buy one in the 2nd or 3rd year of production.

Agreed. I like the idea of the new engine and transmission. No way I would get a 2017 and do the field testing for Ford. I love my current truck and have zero issues with it. By 2019, the bugs should be sorted and I might be ready to trade,

Call me naive but why are some people so hyped about a 10 speed transmission? We already have 6 speeds, I think that's plenty. The transmission will be constantly changing gears, how would you be able to get the revs enough into the power band enough to enjoy it before the thing shifts again and again.....

How do you delete a post. Should've watch the video first before posting!

Off subject of the motor or transmission. Is the Lariat in this video painted in the new "White Gold" due for '17 model years?
