Default 2017 3.5L code P0022

Well got the P0022 code (intake cam shaft timing issue with crank shaft) on my 3.5L. I do have cold rattle start (phase) and rough idle now. Taking in the shop tomorrow. I assume VVT sol (hoping) but could also be full blown Phaser / timing chain project.
Thoughts of what I can expect from my Dealer?

.
The code 0022 is from the position sensor saying Intake Cam Bank 2 has not moved from its retarded position when commanded by the VCT. The position sensor check this operation and see the fault.
It is operated electrically to open and pass oil under pressure.
Valve spring tension on the Cam lobes is how oil is let out of the Phaser when there is an outlet commanded., There is no other way for Phaser to be variable in timing performance control.
.
1. VCT Solenoid can't gate oil under pressure to the Phaser.
B. Solenoid stuck closed or blocked.
C. Phaser is faulty or any combination of the above.
D. Low oil pressure.
All / any of these affect engine performance.
The noise is the Phaser trying to operate and falling back to the retard position at a fast rate.
Possible it can't hold the oil.
Good luck.

Thanks for the explanation.

Well it was the VCT Solenoid. I was hoping it would solve Engine tick / noise at idle and the Cold start rattle, but no luck on that. I'm glad the P0022 code is gone, but these noises and tick are driving me nuts. Maybe time for full cam Phaser job? Thoughts.
