2017 3.5 ecoboost starter replacement
Anyone done one? The bastard won’t come out. No room between the motor mount carriage and the starter, even removed the motor mount bolt to pry and still not enough room. Anything I’m missing?

Got it
wasn’t easy, but it came out. 1/4 turn, had one hand on the top of the starter, the other wiggling on the solinoid. Took some finesse, and a good yank when I thought it was wedged. Not an easy job, just as difficult putting it back in.
good luck

I made an account just to post this. no other sources online to help other than 1 reddit post. Hope it saves somebody else some grief for this model truck.
For the 3.5L ecoboost 4x4, the starter hits the motor mount when removing, what you need to do is remove the two 21mm motor mount nutsclosest to the starter and jack the truck up under the bell housing ( i used a 3 ton and a block of wood) the engine will move up the quarter inch you need to be able to pull the starter out - remove the starter by pulling it toward the front, then up and slightly to the pasenger side, jack the engine up a little at a time and keep trying.
when removed the starter can then be maneuvered to come out through the bottom. new one goes back the same way.
Side note: I found it easier to connect the power and signal wires when the starter was in place, not bolted in, and the engine lowered back down. you can then pull the starter away from its home position and angle it downward to get a ratchet with an extension on them.
