2017 3.5 EB CEL/Timing Chain
Wanted to tap into the group knowledge here on an issue I'm having with my 2017 3.5 Ecoboost, 124K miles on the clock. It threw a CEL for codes 0365 and 0369, Camshaft Position Sensor B Circuit Bank 1. It is at a reputable local shop (not the dealership), where I was hoping that sensor just needed to be replaced.
The shop says their diagnostics indicate it needs to be checked for a stretched timing chain, which is about an $800 diagnostic cost. If the chain does need to be replaced, their quote was in the $5800 range.
The truck also has a leaking oil pan, which I knew about, and have not fixed because it's a $1600 job for a shop to do it and that buys a lot of oil. The turbos have not been replaced to the best of my knowledge (I've only had the truck about 15 months). It has that rattle noise on startup that some of these trucks have and Ford tried to fix with a programming change, but that has not worked on this truck.
am probably of intermediate mechanical skills... routinely do my own brakes on various cars, changed out power steering units, transaxles, things like that, so doing a timing chain replacement myself is not necessarily out of the realm of possibility, but I have not investigated that.
Just wondering everyone's thoughts on this situation and what you might recommend as a path forward. I did run the truck through some of the online used car sites and it appears I could get $14-$15K for it even with the check-engine light on, so that's my option as far as moving on.
TIA

Both those codes are indicting the >>electrical circuit<< is open, grounded or crossed as the first suspect unless they have been determined to by good before going to the hardware as the cause of the fault.
Good luck.
Good luck.
