2016 vs 2017
New to the forum and about to buy my first new vehicle. I have done some research and I am looking at a 2016 or 2017 xlt with the 3.5 ecoboost 4x4. Similar equipped 2017 f150s are running about $4,000 more than a 2016 near me. Is it worth the extra cash for the new gen 2 ecoboost and 10 speed? Truck will only be towing light loads(jet ski, atvs) and will be getting lifted if it matters. Thanks for the help

Average year to year from 2010 has been $500 to $700. Now Ford wants us to pay 4k for a 10 speed, 3 years later. I so am moving on.

They aren't MSRP for $4k more. They're just running $4k more right now, on average, because the 2016 are being discounted heavily to move them out the door.
Correct. Same in my area. I'll wait for the 2018's, and let the hype die down. I ended up getting my 2012 Platinum, which I ordered in Jan 2012, for a few grand less, then when I was going to order in January 2011.
Good thinkin, to wait and see. Any issues with the 10 speed and new motor will likely be resolved by then.

Mac Haik in Pasadena. Planet ford off 59 is where I have been looking. Neither Planet ford dealerships have recieved the 10 speeds, or at least it doesn't show any online. 41k-43k depending on options for a loaded 302a xlt with 3.5 10 speed 4x4 at Mac Haik. Planet ford was wanting like 44k for a 2016 same everything but a 6 speed.
