2016 touch screen is SLOW
Hey all. I have a 2016 f150 Sport 4x4 xlt with the 8” touch screen (no navigation). As of recently I have been having issues with my touchscreen not working properly. I pose this thread because everything I’m finding deals with the sync system that has navigation — not sure if it matters or not?
To start off, whenever my truck is off for extended periods of time (over night) and I go to turn it on (a lot of times it is also completely random timing on startup) I get a black screen and it always defaults to AM radio. When I put my truck in reverse the backup camera comes on, but will usually stay on for ~30sec after I start driving off. Once the screen finally catches up, the touch screen and wheel controls are extremely delayed. I usually always use my apple carplay, but it could take upwards of 5 minutes (sometimes longer) to start working properly. If I do a soft reset with the power/next track button, it tends to work. I have read many threads and everything leads me back to the APIM module, which is apparently pretty common. However, every thread I search discusses this issue with sync 3 that has nav, and mine does not. I have gone to the dealership, but with all the chip shortages and the time frames they have given me, I’m wondering what the DIY answer could be. I’m skeptical of where to buy the module and/or if it can be, or who can, pre-program it to my vin. Any advice is greatly appreciated and cheers for your help
