Default 2016 KR grill

Boy am I disappointed in Ford warranty claim. About a month ago while washing my 2016 KR FX4 Supercrew I noticed a small blemish/bubble on the lower bar of the grill. To see it really clearly I used a magnifying glass. It is a perfect round dent like in the plastic of the grill and it has slightly bubbled out. There is not even a hint of a scratch or marring on the chrome. I went to the dealer, they took pics, sent in to Ford and not even 30 minutes later sent word on No warranty, is a rock or similar dent. from a cell phone pic from the service dept. Escalated to Customer care and got word back too bad, digital imaging is the highest form of warranty claims and that is final. Asked if some regional manager for field warranty can look in person and was told ,No. Spent 65K on a vehicle 14 months ago, just turned 8000 miles on way home from dealer and this is the way they take care of the Customer. Rant over!

To summarize, you are upset that Ford would not warranty the grille because of something that could only be seen clearly with a magnifying glass.

No I am upset because it is plainly visible to the naked eye, the service writer agreed and took pictures and Ford will not have a human rep physically look at it in person. I looked at it with a magnifying glass to verify there is no damage to the chrome and it is a perfect round indent that could not possibly have been hit that hard and not break the chrome.

Took 14 months 8k miles to notice it? Probably worrying too much about this.

Default grill

So no one ever had a chrome anything go bad after a short time? I have been on this forum for a while and several Mustang forums and have read a lot of "plastic Chrome" issues and PVD wheel issues, so yes I just noticed it after 14 months and 8000 miles. The point is not the chrome or the grill really, it is the dismissal from a Ford Customer Care center that is supposed to be a "customer advocate" that has me irked.

I have heard (sorry no source) that the EPA has cracked down on chemicals used to make the chrome on vehicles and it's not as good as it used to be. Also I'm willing to bet Ford is filing this away as "normal wear and tear". Your truck will not look brand new forever. I wouldn't worry about it.

My last truck had an all chrome front end and it looked like crap up close after 40k miles. Looked fine at a distance tho.

In other words, you're mad that you didn't get your way? Your local dealer took the time to look at it and put in a case. The case was reviewed by Ford and deemed normal wear. I see no issue with the process or the way Ford handled it. In fact, the quick response from Ford is quite impressive to me.

Take the bubble wrap off of your truck and enjoy it.
