Default 2016 FX4 Brake Issues

So, I picked up my truck, an Screw XLT FX4 302a, on Saturday 6/11. First initial issue seemed to be hard shifting or lugging.

After further review and driving it, it felt like the brakes were dragging/sticking. It would stop on its own approaching a stop sign without touching the brakes. Also required more gas pedal than should have been required to get moving. Dropped it off last night at the local service department. Talked to the service writer a little while ago and both front calipers were sticking.

So now on a truck that was built on 5/24, that I have had less than a week and 350 miles, I am getting new calipers.....if they can find some. They have one locked on but trying to find another one they can get. Apparently the 15-16 calipers are hard to come by. Funny I haven't seen any more problems like this around here.

Sucks that this is going with a truck that is so new. Was pretty pissed about it yesterday, still pretty mad today, but it is what it is. Wanted to give everyone else a heads up.

I'll be curious to know what caused them to stick.

Calipers don't "just stick." I also don't believe they were (manufactured) defective. I'd be having a nice chat with your SA to find out why. There's something else amiss.

Oh, I'd think new rotors and pads would be in order as well.

I am curious too. Pretty sure, it was something that just happened. It was like this and maybe I didn't notice it. I am also curious to know what caused this but, I probably wont ever get a straight answer and they probably wont know either.

Now, I am definitely down for new pads and rotors as they were probably overheated and are now shot. Will definitely address with the service dept.

So apparently, there's a nationwide shortage of calipers? Dealer has no idea when they will get it back to me.

This is some bull sh*t. Thanks Ford!

Just looked them up for my 16 and they are indeed backordered. Here is some general info for you

The right side is est to come of B/O at the end of the month. And the left side is not backordered.

However several dealers in the country show the right side in stock. Ask your service writer if the parts department called those dealers asking to see if they are willing to sell one to the dealer because your vehicle is down

I get the parts go back ordered, obviously there's a problem here is calipers for a 2 MY truck are back ordered. My problem is that I have had the truck less than a week and it has less than 350 miles on it. This shouldn't happen.

Wonder why calipers would be out of stock. Rockauto has both the fronts and rears in stock. New Motorcraft fronts and re-manufactured rears.
