2016 f150

Are you waiting? Why?

Sync 3 & various minor bugs common in first year's of a re-engineered product.

I wonder how much truth there is in the theory of waiting out the first year of a model redesign? You would think issues like door alignment, moonroof, squeaks, rattles, molding, etc...could be resolved mid cycle. Why would Ford continue building a defective product when the a known issue is widespread?

They are. Its the major changes, especially the kind marketing people can grab onto. New motors (Raptor EcoBoost), new transmissions (8 speed), new levels (Limited). Those are the items that are held until new model year..

I am waiting, because I have to.. Would have preferred to be in one by now, but waiting on job prospects to pan out before I can jump.. I'd be fine with a left over 2015 at a killer price tho..

Many minor issues are fixed mid cycle. That doesn't mean they fixed them all. Waiting a model year will potentially allow for even more issues to be found and fixed.

I'm waiting for the above reason as well as for Sync 3. Waiting a couple months for these things seems like a smart trade off since I'll likely have the truck for 7+ years.

IMO, it's a never ending cycle.

The issues in the 2015 will be fixed with the 2016. The 2016 will come out with new features which will have issues. The 2017 will fix the issues with the 2016. The 2017 will come out with new engines/tranies that will have issues. The 2018 will fix those issues.....And so on and so on.

Each model year is a gamble. Who's to say Ford doesn't change airbags in the 2016's and they end up to be faulty and are recalled? Or they use a new type of glue on the door seals that fails?

The 2016 may just be a improved 2015 with not a lot of noticeable changes outside of Sync 3 but it could be something like an airbag, glue, light bulbs, etc...something you don't know/see that change.

Nothing will ever be perfect in manufacturing. There's always going to be issues

I was hoping for 16 to be more refreshed however makes me believe the 17 will have updated motors and at least a 8 speed of not 10 tranny. Really want the return of the fx appearance package which was my favorite 150 to date!!

the fun of the first year is finding all the little problems that make the later years a better truck. Somebody has to jump into the deep end of the pool and take a chance good or bad. My goal it to never have a warranty claim. So far I am at 9000 miles and all systems are still go. I'm usually only under warranty for a year anyway. I knew every nut and bolt about my '06. I assume it will be the same way with my '15. Mine does not have all of the extras that other trucks have, but the basic structure and function of the new '15 is excellent and is everything I expected.

I'm waiting for the '16 for Sync 3... it will be nice though that they'll hopefully have fixed the ACC and cooled seats by then too.
The updated motor/transmission could be nice, but am not waiting that long and don't see huge MPG improvements with that, but perhaps more gears would make the drive nicer, but top end gear ratio is likely going to be similar.

If I can hold out for a '16 I'm waiting for Sync 3 and Lithium Gray paint.

Wish I could hold out for the 8 speed tranny. Does anyone know if that's a Ford produced unit or outsourced? If it's the 8 speed ZF found in everything else these days, that transmission is a dream. I have one in my twin turbo X5 and I love it. Best feature of the car, just about.
