My auto start stopped working last year. Even after driving 100km with no heat etc on, the dash would still report the battery was charging. Based on a few things, I assumed the battery wasn't great. I had the dealer check and they said the battery was fine but the truck was incorrectly in a low battery mode. They reset that and it started worked correctly. A few months later it stopped working again so I bought a obd reader and tried it with Forscan. It didn't make much sense to me but I think it did detect the same problem:
Unfortunately I couldn't track this down to anything useful. I'm going back to the dealer this week for some unrelated warranty work, and will ask the to look into again but don't feel like paying every time this happens. Bumper to bumper warranty is over but drivetain warranty is still good. I could ignore it but from what I've read (somewhere), the low battery mode will cause bad mileage while running (apart from the savings you get when it stops). Any suggestions?
Just have it documented at the dealership. If it faults too many time they can lemon laws the truck and get you new or different. Over 3 years old is out of warranty...
