Default 2016 2.7 Battery or stalling issues???

I have a 2016 F150 2.7 4x4 that has around 5000 miles on it. I have read numerous posts about the 2011-2014 F150s having an issue with the "System off to save battery message" showing up on the sync screen. Well this issue started for me a few months ago, and today when I started the truck and started driving it felt like it did not have any power for the first few hundred feet and seemed to go into a "limp mode" or something where it wouldn't go above a few miles an hour. I stopped and waited about 30 seconds at a stop sign and then it drove normally the rest of the day. The auto/start stop feature hasn't worked in a few months either (says vehicle charging on the info screen). It's still under full warranty and I am taking it to the dealer ASAP, but what am I looking at here? Could a dying battery create these issues? Something else going on here? Bone stock, it sat for about 3 days since I last drove it, been in the 30's and 40's around here with some rain.... Any ideas?

Bad battery will cause the auto stop feature to stop working. I would go by autozone and get them to check your battery and/or charging system.

Thanks for the info, I read it and feel as though im meeting all of the conditions most of the time and the start/stop feature in not intermittent, it hasn't activated in 3 or more months across all driving and weather conditions. The thing im most worried about is obviously the "limp mode" or no power when pressing the pedal. Am I correct in tracing the no start/stop, the limp mode and the message on my sync screen saying "system off to save battery" as being a possibility of a bad battery or could it be something else? I dont have any accessories or chargers etc plugged in (my 12 volt plugs have turned off with the ignition since I bought it).

You really need to take it to the dealer so they can check for DTCs. Anything less than that is a WAG.

SSM 46139 describes a similar issue but is accompanied with DTCs and a wrench lamp.

SSM 46139 - 2015/2016 - F-150 - Intermittent Loss Of Throttle Response - Multiple Warning Indicators And/Or Multiple Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)

Some 2015-2016 F-150 vehicles may experience intermittent loss of throttle pedal response, illuminated wrench, hill descent, airbag, anti lock brake system(ABS) and/or advanced trac warning indicators and/or P2122, P2123, P2124, P2125, P2127, P2128 and/or P2138 DTCs. This may be caused by the Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 14A005 harness being improperly routed behind the brake booster to brake pedal bracket. If the harness is improperly routed, loosen the bracket to free the harness. Inspect and repair damaged circuits before properly routing the harness. If the harness is properly routed, proceed with normal diagnostics in the Workshop Manual (WSM).

Most of me agrees with "take it to a dealer" for this, if I have about 3 hours to spare. I quick trip to Autozone or most other auto parts store will get you a battery test done in about 15 minutes or so, take the little print out to the dealership after that, maybe they won't spend so much time on them trying to diagnose the symptoms. The dealership I use spent about 3 hours one day to just change a tire to a new rim, I would rather not waste that much time again.

Good luck OP, let us know how it goes.

Tom

Yeah ill have to check back in with this thread, I have an appointment at my dealer on Thursday and they are giving me a loaner so I wont be out too much time. I'm hoping it is just a battery issue because this is a pretty concerning issue on a 35k dollar truck with 5000 miles. Electrical gremlins are my worst nightmare.

I have the problem fixed mostly, they said the battery was bad and replaced it. The auto start/stop still doesn't work but ill give it a day or two for the BMS to reset itself as I wont be driving it for the next day or two.

My auto start/stop stopped working at 11,000 miles. New battery fixed it. Auto start/stop was working fine when I picked it up from the dealer.
