Unhappy 2015 Tailgate Trouble

Picked up new 2015 Ruby Red 302A on Nov 4 and noticed the tailgate doesn't close properly. You have to really slam left side to close it but then when you open it, it really springs back and the handle feels "funny" in your hand. Took it back to dealer, Nov.5 the next day and waited 45 mins, and was told they can't fix it, has to be sent out to their body shop. They keep it for a day. Body shop says they can't fix it and a new tailgate needs to be ordered. I'm worried and don't want a tailgate that isn't factory painted and I am worried the dealer will get a metal one and send it out for their body shop to paint. Anyone else having tailgate troubles?

I don't mean to p*ss in your Cheerios, but you might want to look into the possibility of the frame or bed being warped. This happens on occasion, especially with pickup trucks, when the transporters tighten down the loading straps too much and it pulls the frame out of alignment. Sometimes the beds flex excessively as well, and being aluminum, it's possible it could be warped. It'll be too late down the road, when you start realizing that your tires are wearing much faster than they should be, because they aren't tracking properly if it's the frame. I'm not saying this is the problem, but it certainly should be considered. If in fact this is the case, DO NOT let them "fix" it, if it's the frame. Insist on a brand new truck! Good luck!

Any reputable body shop can match paint. I ordered some PTM mirror caps off ebay painted by a Ford dealer and they were perfect. I've also had a 14 F150 painted locally that was maybe better than the factory paint job.

I won't accept body shop paint job since it's never baked on like factory paint.

Well in that case the only option you will have is to tell the dealer/Ford corporate that and make them take a tailgate off another truck and then paint a new one for it.
