2015 Leaking Moonroof
#331
So about 3 weeks ago I picked up my 2015 F150 SuperCrew Lariat 502A and for the last 2 weeks have been on a business trip so it sat in the driveway. I went out this morning wanting to check my tonneau for leaks (Truxedo Lo Pro QT).
Good news, no leaks on my tonneau cover!
Bad news, my drivers side husky liner floor mat was flooded with about 2" of water. Looks like it is coming into the A pillar, dripping out of the handle into the drivers side HVAC vent down the dash and onto the floor mat. Appointment set to take this into the dealer on Monday AM. I have no idea when it actually rained and how much has evaporated since then but to see this happen on a $55K truck this is weeks old is shocking, concerning and upsetting.
I have that gut feeling I shouldn't have traded my Toyota Tundra in on this thing.

Ford engineers said this is normal. I call BS. Must be a design flaw. There is nothing normal about water flowing into the cab of a vehicle. They said should be fine when washed with a low pressure water hose just not a carwash. Thats more BS. So F150 owners arent supposed to use car washes? What a joke! Im just about ready to get a lemon law attorney on this. Two trucks, credit got hit went from 840 to 780 because of the multiple inquiries. Non of this was muly fault. Buyers beware. Don get a sunroof
Passenger front corner. Steady stream in the pic but it actually drips from mulitple places.
Notice the water all over the inside tract. Also another stream. This is where the two moon roof panels meet on passenger side

Tigermurse - Sorry it ended up this way for you. I can remember reading the above Ford memo sometime ago. It's disappointing for the owners who have these issues today and for those who haven't yet, I don't think it bodes well for them, long term.
Car washes, high powered car washes are normal. So most people would think that the engineers whom designed a twin panel glass roof, would take that into their design criteria. It's obviously not a reliable design! Ford designs your windows that open and close with seals to withstand car washes, so why design a TP glass roof that can't withstand a high pressure car wash?
Makes no sense, side windows normal don't leak, but normal for roof to leak?

Windows all leak but they drain at the bottom of
The door.

Disagree windows do not leak! Just like windows in your house or apartment, they don't leak either. And your door, your windows all have drains, and likewise, so does the TP glass roof.
This Ford concept saying water leaking into your truck from the glass roof is normal, is just like saying its normal for your dishwasher to drain water onto your floors and cabinets, or your toilet or tub overflowing. Just because it happens doesn't make it normal!
The issue Tigermurse has is the volume of water coming inside his vehicle. If it's leaking that bad when new, what happens 4-5 years from now?

Mine is the same as Tigermurse
Was apparently fixed by my dealer here but is still the same,
Will show them it again, Yeah in a few years might be a real big problem. will just seal it shut with window caulking

Just bought a new 2015 Lariat a few days ago. I've got about 350 miles on it. Drove it in some normal (not heavy) rain for the first time today and when I got home I noticed there were drops of water above the track on the drivers side of the moon roof and when putting my finger in the track it was definitely wet. I've read through a lot of this thread. Is this really considered "normal"? This was nothing like a high pressure car wash, just some normal rain.
