If you understand that the X-plan formula (dictated by Ford, not the dealer) is subject to contractual constraints and that the 'value' of your trade-in is a manipulated flexible number that is really a way of discounting MSRP & dealer flooring+holdback numbers (i.e. dealer margin on each sale), there is nothing "shady" or 'shenanigans' about such a transaction. In many scenarios, a buyer can negotiate a better price than X-plan because any negotiations are not subject to Ford's X-plan constraints, only what the dealer & buyer arrive at that satisfies them both, with or without a trade-in. The buyer just has to understand the arithmetic of it all...trade-ins confuse many buyers, but the arithmetic is the same, only the labels that are put on the numbers vary. It's much easier to negotiate if you keep in mind where the dealer is coming from and understanding how his bookkeeper views the deal.

Yes, that's Magnetic...Ford labels it "new" but it's no more new that the variations between existing and previous Sterling Gray or Shadow Gray. Magnetic will only appear as a slightly different gray hue of previous F-150 colors.

They had a 2015 Lariat in Race Red at Hot August Nights in Reno. It wasn't open and I couldn't convince them to open it for me! I got a few pics, but not great ones. The shots of the interior are taken through the window, attempting to block the glare.
