I think anywhere between 1-3k is believable. And realistic. Which I also think is reasonable for what they're giving us now.
Then, you take deals and incentives and that 1-3k is already dissolved. It will work out fine.
I got my new 13 FX4 for 10k off. Employee pricing. It's probably around 55k cause I'm in canada and it's loaded, but now it's 44k. Not to mention I traded a 12 silverado LT with 30 thousand kms on it. I'm paying the same per month for a 100x better truck. Not even a comparison.
So, there will always be good deals and incentives and dealers can make things happen. And even so, I think 1-3k is reasonable and realistic. Think about it

I understand I will lose some money, however I traded from a 2012 to 2013 and ended up just about $1,100 under what I owed when I put nothing down when I bought it... I might lose a little more, but my family has also bought 3 cars from the dealership in the last years, so I am sure they will do their best to keep our business.

honestly, I will have no issues shopping around getting quotes. I will also hard bargain cause my dollar is worth it. Its hard to tell a dealer you want a platinum at the price of a reg lariat. So I'll go for a lariat and hard bargain that. You just want the basics a truck needs, 4x4(Canada), reverse camera and the Bluetooth/gps for resale value.

To start, I don't NEED a platinum.. Nobody on this forum NEEDS a platinum.. It's all about what you WANT. I choose to drive the higher-end models, not because I need them, but they have value to me. Yes no one needs a plat, but if you go big, it's hard to sink lower. And I get that's a reality for some and it's unfortunate. And most of us have been there for one thing or another.
I had a loaded GM and it was traded for a base Chev and I couldn't take it. So I did everything I could to find a dealer that could make a miracle happen and they did. My FX4 is the greatest truck I've owned in every category by a long shot. And I'm paying the same per month. I'd have difficulty going down a notch. I'm planning for a 16 KR next.

My plan is to look at how much equity I have in my 13' Platinum at the 2, 3, and 4 yr marks. For the most part as long as my monthly payment is going down, its a step in the right direction. Honestly we all know these trucks are not an investment, they are an expense.
These figures based off buying my truck bought Jan 2013. 1, 2, and 3yr trade-in. Doing a rough trade in value on a 13', 12, and 11 with 25k miles/year same options. I got 36k, 33k and 29k at good condition. With my four year loan I'm at -2k, 7k, and 17k respectively for equity. Obviously very rough numbers and I'm sure these will go down once compared to the new body style. 4 years would probably be my best option, but there was no Ecoboost in the 2010's to compare it too.
All this goes out the window if the base price increases alot and eats at my equity.

New model will cost the same as previous one - from $24,445 to $50,405
Don't know how reputable this site is, so take it with a grain of salt.

Auto analysts have pegged the variable margin on each Ford F-series truck at between $8,000 and $10,000. Compare that to $2,500 in pretax profit in North America per vehicle sold and it is easy to see that the trucks contribute an outsized share of Ford’s overall profitability.
