Also,in addition to what was already mentioned (they are not real chrome plate) meaning they won't rust. What that is,is rail dust/fallout.
It's from your rotors throwing up brake dust.Probably all over your paint as well you just need to look close at it.They are just little "rust LOOKING" spots that just land on the paint/sit on the paint or wheels.
This happens with every vehicle,(even newer vehicles). To remove it use a clay bar and clay lube or a liquid fallout remover.
For your wheels/paint to help repel the fallout, make sure the wheels/paint always have a good coat of wax on them.
After 6 months, reassess the vehicle and repeat the same steps if needed.
Also, washing the vehicle once a week will also help keep the paint/wheels fallout free.

nope ...zero corrosion....I am in Canada north east of Boston and we get or fair share of snow, ice, heavy salt on the roads....not a spec of corrosion..

The only corrosion I have is on my stock 2015 xlt chrome wheels. I'm an old guy (53) that loves chrome wheels and I've had many different ones. I haven't seen any pit and rust like these are doing since the 70's. I live in the southern part of North Carolina, so it's not like I'm in the North having to deal with salt and anti-ice chemicals. I admit, I only wash my truck every few weeks, but I don't think that's any reason for all the pitting I'm having.
