Default 2.7L Ecoboost Oil Leak....1976 Or 2016?

So on Saturday I noticed 4 drops of oil under my truck... checked oil- it was good, so I rolled it up on ramps and removed my (oil stained)heat shield to find my oil pan wet.

My truck build date is 06/16 and it’s at 18700 miles and it now leaks more oil than my 1995 5.0L GTS.....

I’m the only one that has ever changed the oil and have only used Mobil 1 and motor craft filter... every 3-4K mile interval since I bought the truck with 7miles.

Called local dealership on Saturday and made an appointment for today at 1:00, dropped truck off today and 2.5hrs later they call to tell me I’m getting a new oil pan.

They made me an appointment for a rental vehicle and said the truck should be done mid day on Wednesday.

So far so good

Part that got me thinking was....when they told me they don’t re-seal the plastic oil pan....they replace the entire assembly??? I got a little picky with them and told them I wanted a new lower engine heat shield since mine got pretty oily.

Well on the positive side, at least you haven't been impacted by the oil consumption TSB that your 2.7 build date falls in. Hopefully this minor oil leak will be the only issue you'll see with your 2.7.

If the oil pan isn't replaced "perfectly" it's going to eventually leak every time. Some dealers get it right while others IMO don't exactly follow Fords pan replacement procedure. Had my 2017 3.5 done several months ago and it's been totally dry since. Hope it stays that way but would still like to see Ford offer a metal pan.

Good luck getting yours replaced properly this time..........

I think the problem is lack of Gasket... it should be o-ringed like the intake. on pan #2 I asked what the spec was on the RTV and they couldn't tell me... Too much is just as bad as not enough IMO.

Here a copy of my trucks work order to replace the pan. The Ford part # is listed for the sealant....
