Look at their 3.0 TDI. My wife's Touareg would return 29mpg at 75+mph loaded with 4 people on long road trips. Unladen and more modest speeds it would top 31mpg. That truck weighed a feather or two under 5000lbs.

The diesel proposition is a good one. My dad's GLK 250 has a 2.2 diesel that he averages 35mpg in and its a hoot to drive.

We will likely never see the Amorak in the US unless someone finds it prudent to repeal the chicken tax or VW starts building it in Mexico.

All this said, the auto mags have spotted diesel F-150's running around Ford headquarters in Michigan.

When it drops with a 3.0L turbo diesel and a 10 speed transmission there will not be a half ton truck on the market that will be able to touch its combination of economy, performance and towing.
But it has Canyon on it and right away a trip to the lawyers is in the works I mean Europeans and a Canyon, it doesn't compute. So Gm goes green and sees red.

were you drunk when you typed this?

I mentioned a VW Touareg, a Mercedes GLK, and an F-150, but nowhere mentioned the duramax Canyon....thoroughly confused.

About to hit 1 year old in two days and just under 12k miles and average of 17mpg. Not complaining at all this thing is still fun to drive and comfortable day in and day out. It handles everyday family life with ease, I don't know what other vehicle I could have that would be as versatile. Only odd thing that recently happened is my mpg display went from reading an average of 18(its always been 1 mpg optimistic) now it's been up into the 21s. I don't know if the gas blend changed or the computer just decided to be even more optimistic than normal.

16 scab 4x4 3.55 towing a little over 4k lbs at 70mph for 10 hours returned 15.5mpg. Pulled 5k just as easy but that was only 10 miles. Haven't messed with the back up assist yet but the trailer brake controller is very nice to have.

15 scab 4x4 3.55 towing a little over 4k lbs at 75mph for 14 hours returned 13.2mpg. Now, for more details... Still new and started off with just 3K miles. Towed U-Haul's largest cargo trailer from Denver to Madison. IA and WI are both hilly but never had performance issues when in 6th. Got 20mpg on the way back though.

No pics but I did a 85 mile round trip today to pick up a load for work (light 300 lbs). I reset my mileage while pulling out the gate at work and after returning I averaged 26.2 mpg truck ('16) has 1051 miles on it. I'm guessing it will get better after breakin. I was almost empty when I got back and filled up at a local station with 87 non ethanol for the first time and will see if I get any gains. Little more expensive (2.69 gal) but will likely keep using it.

Finally seeing good mileage in my 2015 -- 4x4, 2.7, 3.55 elocker, 15600 miles

Road trip from KS to NY 3 tanks of gas. 19.53 on the 1st, 20.39 on the 2nd and 21.35 on the 3rd. all at posted speed limit plus 7or 8 mpg so between 72 & 82 MPH. this is calculated... computer reads 1.5 to 2.0 mpg higher

Lifetime is still a disappointing 16.59. daily commute is 18 miles, 60% on a 4 lane at 73 mph.

my 2011 3.5 eco averaged 17.17 over 65000 miles

The first tank I put in, not counting the tank from the dealer, the truck indicated around 20.5MPG, calculated 19.7. That included a lot of city driving and idling.
About to go on a long trip in a couple weeks and will track the 100% I-40 miles between OKC and North Carolina, then the mixed to Norfolk, Columbus and back.
