Small truck. It's a true body on frame truck unlike the Ridgeline, but it's more the size of a Tacoma or Canyon. Only has a small 2.0L I4 diesel available, of which the bi-turbo version only makes 177hp/310ft-lbs.

The great VW diesel has been proven a farce. Let's see what they do now that they have to play by the rules.

Yes and no. They have the capability to build a diesel that gets good mileage and performance. The bean counters had a mandate for cost which ruled out a urea system on the smaller engines so they cheated. Does not meant they cant make power and mileage.

Look at their 3.0 TDI. My wife's Touareg would return 29mpg at 75+mph loaded with 4 people on long road trips. Unladen and more modest speeds it would top 31mpg. That truck weighed a feather or two under 5000lbs.

The diesel proposition is a good one. My dad's GLK 250 has a 2.2 diesel that he averages 35mpg in and its a hoot to drive.

We will likely never see the Amorak in the US unless someone finds it prudent to repeal the chicken tax or VW starts building it in Mexico.

All this said, the auto mags have spotted diesel F-150's running around Ford headquarters in Michigan.

When it drops with a 3.0L turbo diesel and a 10 speed transmission there will not be a half ton truck on the market that will be able to touch its combination of economy, performance and towing.

Well, my latest gas mileage on my 2015 F150 Lariat 2.7 crew cab with 3:31 gears and I now have just over 4200 miles is 21.4. This is based on the trucks computer. I have no complaints with this. Anyone else ?

Default Real World MPG

I have a 2016/2.7/4x4/SCrew and took a trip from Denver over the Rockies and back reaching an altitude of around 11,300' with 85 octane and registered 20 MPG. The truck had plently of power accelerating up hill at a speeds above 70 and 8% grades.

Default 3.31 gears - Don't think that is an option in Canada

I had wanted that gear ratio in my truck, but they don;t offer it here? I guess it can be rated to tow properly in the US? Weird.

Finally got a chance to test mine out on a longer trip! I went north to my buddies land and back for the weekend. Not the longest trip, but I went through some hilly and windy county roads. That trip has a good mix of speed limits too, ranging mostly from 45 MPH to 70MPH with some in town driving sprinkled in. I was clipping at 75 to 80 in the 70 zones trying to get there faster . I used cruise control for the 70 MPH zones.

I'm very impressed with this truck's highway performance indeed! I bested my buddie's girlfriend's Trailblazer by 5 or 6 MPG. I was burning 91 octane Kwik Trip gas for this. I notice a slight increase in MPG and throttle response when running 91 and 93. The engine is also quieter and seems to run smoother on premium. Truck is a 2015 XL Supercab 6.5' box 4x4 with 3.55 gears.

I don't know if yours is a 4x4 or not but the 2.7 2wd gets 3:31 and the 4x4 is 3:55

I'm pretty sure you're right on there unless the 2016's are different. I had the choice of 3.55 or 3.73 only when I was looking at the 4x4 2.7 trucks. They did have lockers and non lockers as well as LSD and non LSD though. Mine is just an open diff.
