Default 2.7 Ecoboost, opinions ?

Hello everyone, I'm looking at a left over 2016 Scab FX4 right now. It has the 2.7 ecoboost. Was wondering what owners thought ? I was surprised how quick it was on the test drive. I have a 3.5 ecoboost in my 2012 right now was wondering how they were in comparison ,I read that the 2.7 gets better mileage than the 3.5.

Yes it gets better MPGs than the 3.5 and a quick search you'll find that most of us with the 2.7 are very happy....

Do not test drive the new 3.5 eco with ten speed as I did. Now I am paying 3k more for the exact same 17 truck over the 16 and I am happy to do it. Ford has a winner with the new power-train.

If you tow go with the 3.5, if not the 2.7 is a good motor.

Very happy with my 2.7 and I tow about 6000 every 2 weeks. 20mpg most of the time....not while towing.

I just turned over 17,000 miles on my 2.7

They've only been put in production vehicles for two years, but seem to be very reliable. Mine is smooth, more than enough power for me, and most people get no less than 20mpg average.

I love my 2.7 just hit 3000 miles and I am like most just watching my mpg go up. Each fill up it gets better, and if I can keep my foot out of it the better it is. But its a little beast that just pulls and the turbos get addictive with how quick it is. I think you wont go wrong!

Love mine, haven't hit 20 MPG consistently yet but only have 1700 miles on it. If I stay off the gas for a few highway trips I can keep mpg around 19 and still have fun in town.

its responsive and quick for sure. Brother in law and father both drove it and were impressed and how quick turbos kick in. It's still mind boggling to me that this little engine can be this great. I'd be interested to feel it in the Edge Sport!

Love my 2.7. It seems to have less torque management than the 3.5, which is probably why it feels quicker.

If you want to tow any serious weight (over 8500lbs look into a 3.5 Eco or a 3/4 ton.

It's the little engine that could --and combined with the 3.73's there are a lot Hemi's, and other V8 owners who have also become believers when they pull up to you and see nothing but tail lights.
