Default 2.7 2018 stalling while towing

Wife, daughter and coach are towing our horse we just sold 2 hours west of us to deliver it and the 2018 2.7 kept stalling an hour into the drive. They were on highway at around 65 mph in tow haul mode went onto exit for food and truck stalled. They said it would sometimes start up but die as soon as they went to go into gear. I am not sure of the weight of the trailer with the horse, single horse trailer. The truck has puled it many times before but all short distance and non highway speeds. They limped to the restaurant and waited a half hour and now running fine. We usually pay to have the horse transported when it is a longer trip, that option wasn't available this weekend.

I have been reading other threads about similar truck set up having same issues. Has anyone heard what the cause may have been.

I think there are other threads on this - related to a TSB that came out. In 2017 if I recall.

I think the issue is that it believes it's overheated - which causes the issues. I don't think it's overheated in reality it's more a sensor or threashold fault. Good luck and keep us posted.
