Default 2.5" Leveling kit

After 2.5" Leveling kit.

I just put this leveling kit on my truck - 2016 FX4
Amazon Amazon

No real problem installing it or anything. My airplane mechanic buddy helped me out and all went pretty smooth. 4 hours total install. Had alignment done next day and it was only out of toe .8%. Drive and handles great. Love the way the truck sits now.

My concern is the 4x4. I only tested it out when I bought the truck. I do not remember it making any noise when I drove with it. I tried it out the other day after the lift and seemed loud in 4 high. Kinda grindy and stearing felt torque. Anything I should be aware of or concerned about. It shifted in and out of 4x4 easy and without noises. I may just be paranoid I'm gonna mess up my new truck...

Thanks for any input.

- Mike

If you hear it while turning on dryish pavement and its kind of a whirring then its "normal".

What might have we done to break an IWE? Is it pretty easy to unknowingly break one?

My control arms were so stiff we could not get the strut out so we ended up just dropping the lower control arm so as to not torque on anything too much.

This is my first F150 so I am not familiar with how the 4x4 "acts".

yea they are "fairly easy" to break for lack of better wording. How is it acting when engaging right now?

It engages right away. No issues there and I do not hear anything but a click or single quiet knock when it engages. When I drive with it I just hear kinda a moaning or real light grinding noise. very subtle sound. The 4x4 feels kinda jerky not super smooth. I remember my f250 4x4 driving really smooth.

I bet if I had exhaust I could not even hear it. Is breaking an IWE very noticeable? What are obvious signs?

Thanks for the input!

The IWE's can be damaged if not properly reassembled. if recall correctly, you are supposed to apply vacuum with a vacuum pump, and measure something.... I don't remember honestly. All I know is that when I did mine, after reading that, the logical solution was to not touch the bolt that goes through the IWE into the axel, and just remove the control arm bolts instead. Worked like a charm and no risk of damaging the IWE's

I really appreciate the input!

That is exactly how I did mine. We thought the shaft was keeping it from dropping down as well as the control arms being very stiff. We just dropped the lower control arm all the way and everything got real easy after that. We spend 3 hours on the first side and 1 hour on the second side. Lol.

After everyones input I am convinced I am good to go. This is one of those mods I really want to make sure I am comfortable with. I felt I did some pretty good research before installing but this IWE deal spooked me pretty good. Thanks for the input!
