I hear not crashing into other objects at high speed can help avoid that problem

By that logic, why have any crash protection at all?

The problem for Ford now is that they've shown a clear pattern of behavior with these things now that they've deleted them again for the Raptor - so if someone gets hurt in a small offset crash, either in a Raptor or a '15 supercab, their lawyers are going to have a field day.

You assume they don't know this and position yourself to avoid a collision. Millions of motorcycle riders do this every day. Given how low your odds are of getting into a collision, much less a life threatening one, this is a rather trivial detail to lose sleep over.

But not all us motorcycle riders live to see another day.. And all the cell phone users are making the odds worse for everyone..

The sooner you recognize that you and you alone are responsible for your safety, the sooner you can move past the actions of others. I rode a literbike as a DD in one of the ****tiest driving states and not once did I get hurt. I didn't get lucky. I assumed every driver is an incompetent ****bag that wants to kill me and positioned myself accordingly. You can do the same in your truck.
