Hi guys anyone have a ballpark on what changing out a shift control module cost from Ford ? I was told that is most likely what my issue is from an independent shop . thanks in advance

 

I don't know and I am certainly not an expert, but here is what i have gathered from reading and talking to transmission guys. The 10r80 has a design flaw. The cdf clutch drum has been redesigned and there is a TSB for its replacement. The cdf drum is the root cause of 99% of the transmission issues that get blamed on other things like adaptive learning and shift solenoids. Addressing them just prolongs the inevitable. (this came from a Ford transmission tech based on his experience) even IF the issue is with some other part of the transmission, if you are going to break into it, I think it would be foolish to not replace the cdf drum while you are in there. so basically, you end up with a (mostly) complete rebuild.

again, I know that doesn't answer your question, but it is basically where I ended up.
