Default Rust

I have this rust spot on the roof of my 2001 Ford F150 Supercrew & when it rains it drips inside my truck into the cup holder & floor. I'd like to try & fix it myself rather than take it to a body shop but I will if I have no choice. Any help on how to fix it would be great!

Well here is my plan. Not sure how well it will work but don't have the extra money to have a body shop repair it. Going to sand it down, clean it real good, apply POR 15 POR Patch, paint over it with POR 15 Paint, Prime & then paint with Duplicolor paint match. You guys think it will work?

I would use a product by Quikrete. Its a polymer concrete deck crack sealer (gray) It's very flexible will stick to the rusted metal and seal.@ Lowe's for $6.00 a tube. It can be painted after it drys several days. You can fill that whole area from the tip to 2' back and stop the water from settling there. You can't sand this stuff but you can level it with a putty knife.

How did it work out for you? I have a 2001 also, & just repaired the bottom of the rear right passenger door. I had about a 1"X3" rust hole after poking around with a screwdriver, and it took most of last weekend to get it straight, then the rattle can paint did not come out great. I have more work to do there. I just got a starter kit from KBS Coatings (similar to POR15), & hope tomorrow to apply a couple coats of their product on the lower insides of all 4 doors & the tailgate. I really want to nip rust in the bud!
