Default More flaking paint

A few years back the paint on my tailgate started flaking off and I ended up getting the tailgate repainted. I have noticed that paint is flaking a couple other places that are out of sight and now I'm worried they might spread to areas that are on the exterior of the truck. The pictures below show flaked paint along the inner flange of the front fenders where the hood covers them. My question is, if I sand these areas to remove the loose paint and then paint them with a high quality "rattle can" paint, will it stop the spread? I can't afford to get the truck repainted so I'd really like to keep this from ruining the looks of my truck.

It's white. And it's fender jambs. That's 2 strikes. White is the most common color to peel. And fender jambs notoriously lack paint thickness.

"High quality" and "rattle can," should never be in the same sentence. But it looks like you can keep it in the jamb. Only risk is when you tape it. The tape can peel the areas next to what you're repairing. I've done that many times. Painted a white Honda hrv like 4 times. Because every time I painted a panel, and untaped it, I would peel the next panel. Ended up eventually doing the whole car
